First Law — Inertia
An object stays at rest, or keeps moving at constant velocity, unless a net force acts on it.

Notice: with friction off, the puck never slows down — it just bounces off the end walls and keeps its speed forever. Friction is a force; turn it on and the puck gradually stops.
Second Law — F = m × a
The acceleration of an object is the net force divided by its mass: a = F / m.

Notice: raise the force and the cart accelerates harder; raise the mass and the same force gives less acceleration. The arrow shows the force pushing the cart.
Third Law — Action & Reaction
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

Notice: both carts feel the same force in opposite directions — but the lighter one shoots off faster, because a = F / m. (That's rocket propulsion, recoil, and walking, all in one.)
